The Weather Protects came about in the early seventies when Otto Nemenz needed to protect his cameras under wet conditions. Since then we have made them for nearly all of the cameras used.

The weather protectors are made so that they can be use under most weather conditions such as light rain and dust. They are made of either or a combination of 420-denier back coated with urethane to make the material waterproof or a 12 to 18 gage clear plastic. They are made to attach to the matte box with Velcro loop or hook. Arri and Panavision started to place Velcro on their matte boxes after we made Weather Protectors for them. If your matte box does not have the Velcro we can supply it. There are flaps for the follow focus and window/flaps so that the camera controls maybe observed or used. The upper rear left side seam has a Delren #5 zipper covered with a flap to permit changing magazines or opening of film door without removing the complete cover.  The lens observation windows are made of an "optical" grade of clear plastic when used with the 420-denier nylon. The lower edge may have Velcro added to close off the bottom of the protector. The short eyepiece has a drawstring closure around the rear portion. We can also make an "extension" cover to add to the short eyepiece cover for longer extensions. If you need more information please contact us.
